About Brent

Brent Runyon was the executive director of the Providence Preservation Society from 2013 to 2023. While at PPS, he led the organization through a period of remarkable growth and stability, completing two strategic plans and a comprehensive capital campaign that raised nearly $1.5 million. He was responsible for creating the organization’s Building Works program, securing more than $300,000 from grants and contributions. In 2021, he received his real estate sales license in Rhode Island and has taught classes on architectural styles through the RI Association of Realtors. He is a sales associate with Residential Properties, Ltd. in the Broadway office. In 2024, he was appointed to the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission.

Previously, he served as executive director for Thomasville Landmarks (in Georgia). During that time, he successfully led the placement of two historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places: an African American neighborhood and a twentieth century neighborhood. He worked with two neighborhood nonprofits and the county government to secure a Transportation Enhancement Grant from the GA DOT for improvements to a rural community’s main street. He served on the Georgia National Register Review Board and expanded Landmarks’ revolving fund assets.
